The unique and sensual beauty of pearls has fascinated people from a wide variety of cultures for centuries. Their formation and rarity value has given pearls a deeply symbolic character of richness, wisdom, happiness and dignity.
Up until the 18th century the formation of pearls in mussels was left to natural chance. Today, however, most pearls originate from aquacultures, where pearls are produced by inserting the smallest foreign object into the mussel. Modern methods make it possible for the quality of cultured pearls, as regards shape and surface gloss (lustre), to be barely distinguishable from that of naturally grown pearls.

GRIFFIN freshwater cultured pearls conform to a very high standard set by jewelers and are characterised by a bright, shiny lustre, a close to spherical shape and a clean surface which is virtually free of growth marks. The body colour of GRIFFIN freshwater cultured pearls is light cream with a surface layer of rosé.
GRIFFIN freshwater cultured pearls are in light cream-rosé and are available in three different diameters in strands of approx. 40cm. Please note that pearls, as an organic product, can vary slightly in diameter and colour.
